Welcome to Iguacu, an iconic Parnell Restaurant and Bar twice voted Best New Zealand Restaurant and winner of Best Auckland Restaurant for the last four years in a row.
Pronounced Ig-wa-soo and named after the famous Iguacu falls on the Argentina/Brazil border, we have been providing a popular meeting place to Auckland diners for many years. Enjoy the intimacy and warmth of the open fire, or people-watching from the street-side outdoor dining area or perhaps tapas in either of our bars.
Often people think we are a fine dining restaurant, and whilst we take that as a compliment, we are in fact a brasserie. That means we offer a more informal dining experience - one that’s consistent with true Kiwi hospitality. However, we still insist on using the same high quality meats and fresh local produce found in fine dining restaurants… and our portion sizes are generous enough that you won’t need to stop for a hamburger on the way home!
Iguacu offers modern European cuisine and features an extensive lunch, dinner, vegetarian, kids and tapas menu. As we want our flavours to be as unique as possible, we make nearly every ingredient by hand here at Iguacu. This includes all of our chutneys, chocolates, and biscotti. In fact, we are one of the few Auckland restaurants to smoke our own meat. For those of you on a special diet (such as gluten free), we can do almost everything (except Halal), so please just let us know and we’ll do our best.
To select our wines, we scoured the country drinking as much as possible to come up with some pretty special wines that are some of the best New Zealand has to offer. Partial to Central Otago vino by any chance? Well, we are too, so you will find that we have one of the biggest selections from the region. Also, we know there is nothing worse than ordering a glass of wine only to find that it’s not quite your cup of tea (so to speak), so for that reason, we offer a tasting size.
We welcome private functions, or group bookings in any of our main dining areas or for the more exclusive occasion, retreat to the private dining room, with its own bar and fireplace. With three bars to choose from (all of which can be used exclusively without a hire fee) and a range of tapas or platter menus available, cocktail parties are our specialty. With your instructions, our on-site Functions Manager will design a function to suit your group's size, budget and style.
Great food, in combination with a natural earthy décor and lively bars, make a terrific Auckland restaurant experience.
