There is a wide flat paved walkway around the lagoon that takes in the shade house, gardens, duck and wild fowl pond, playground, picnic and barbeque areas and a small fishing jetty. Children love riding their bikes and scooters, and it is an ideal place to let your toddlers loose in a safe environment. Aotea Lagoon is also ideal for wheelchairs.
It is not a swimming lagoon, however it is possible to canoe on the lagoon, but large groups require permission from the Council. Fishing is permitted and there are a number of suitable locations to drop a line into the water.
