Monday 28th December sees another meeting full of variety at the Robertson Holden International Speedway. Headlining the meeting is the Mufflers New Zealand V8 Saloon Speedweek presented by Valvoline, the Brent Lowe Memorial for Stockcars, Manawatu Minisprint Champs along with the bedlam of the crowd favourite the Demon Energy Ramp Derby!
The Mufflers New Zealand V8 Saloon Speedweek Series is in town for their first round of a 5 stop series finishing at Auckland's Waikaraka Speedway on January 5th. A quality field of competitors including 1NZ Thomas Korff, 2NZ Scott Lansdowne and 3NZ Tom Roberts along with a packed field of drivers from Auckland to Dunedin! Steve Williams in his Valvoline sponsored Saloon 21A will be sure to put on a show and local competitors Calvin Honore and Ash O`Dowd will be looking to use their home track advantage to get an early jump on the series points.
The Brent Lowe Memorial for Stockcars always provides plenty of action on the track with many local and visiting drivers indicating they are keen to compete for this memorial title. Kyle Rowe will be surely one to watch, after a successful few weeks with the Stockcar King of the Arena Champion, good form at Gisborne in the New Zealand Stockcar Grand Prix and an exceptional performance at the recent Stockcar Teams Invasion. Others to look out for who are always at the pointy end of the field include Luke Miers, Hamish McLeod, Daniel Burmeister, David Lowe and Brendon Tye.
The Manawatu Minisprint Championship is a hotly contested title, with defending champion 1nz Shane Dewar starting the meeting as favourite to retain his title. Drivers likely to push him all the way include 2nz Ben Vaughan and 72h Elliot Heron, with visitors 18s Daniel Nickel and 53v Dylan Smith also consistently quick around the Central Energy Trust Arena.
Superstocks, Sidecars and Adult Ministocks are also racing, which is finished off by a spectacular Demon Energy Ramp Derby. The last ramp derby had in excess of 45 cars leaping over the ramp full out! This will have you in fits of laughter and makes it a memorial evening at the Robertson Holden International Speedway. Admission prices are $25 for an adult (16 years and over), $10 for children aged 8-15, and $60 for a family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. Kids aged 7 and under are FREE.
Gates for entry are on Waldegrave & Pascal Streets and these gates open from 5pm. Gates accept both Cash & EFTPOS Payments (no credit card) but in order to move the line quickly we recommend coming prepared with cash. There will be plenty of food vendors on site which accept cash & EFTPOS payments. Racing gets underway at 6.30pm.
