Don Rowlands Centre

Welcome to Mighty River Domain at Lake Karapiro. Situated six kilometres south of Cambridge in the Waipa District, the 19 hectare recreational reserve is open for public access all year round. Mighty River Domain also has a range of facilities making it the perfect location for aquatic and land-based events.

This is the perfect place to relax with friends and family, and enjoy the lake view and park-like grounds that are beautifully sheltered by mature trees.

Mighty River Domain features the world-class Don Rowlands Centre. The centre can be hired for family, club, community, national and international events. We also offer affordable outdoor recreation activities and accommodation including camping, cabins and lodges.

Mighty River Domain at Lake Karapiro is the perfect location for:

Mighty River Domain is managed by Waipa District Council. Site manager Liz Stolwyk has managed the domain for the past six years and has 15 years' experience in the tourism industry in New Zealand and overseas. Liz is supported by an administration and site services team. Together they oversee day-to-day operations and manage the domain and lake annual event calendar.
