The Lodge at the French Village

The Lodge at the French village is an ideal retreat for families or groups seeking accommodation in a spacious environment, with adventure on the doorstep, yet close to all the attractions of the beautiful Wairarapa region of New Zealand .

Visitors will enjoy a tranquil respite in native forest/bush. Situated on a large property (approx 500 acres) 20 minutes from Greytown, Carterton or Masterton in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges the Lodge will sleep up to 16 people in bunk-style accommodation but is just as attractive for a couple.

The Lodge is fully furnished and has a well equipped kitchen with basic pantry provisions. Delicious meals are available on request. Both within and around the property are exquisite forest walks with native birds to keep you company (some have seasonal habits). Pristine streams are ideal for exploring, and in summer provide excellent swimming opportunities. There is direct access to Tararua Forest Park .

Visiting the wild Wairarapa coast, touring the wonderful local vineyards or shopping, are all within an easy day’s outing from the Lodge. Also available are guided walks, choose from 1 hour easy through to 6 hour, with magnificent views and interesting flora and fauna. Or choose a pilates class with Susie, an experienced Pilates tutor.

The Eco-Lodge operates on its own hydro power system, which means power usage is finite. Appliances are best used with the generator which is available.
