Set in 80 hectares of tranquil grounds, Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand’s only open range zoo. The park offers a range of unique, close up animal encounters at scheduled times. Visitors can see New Zealand's only gorillas - one of the world's most impressive primates, hand feed our majestic giraffe, meet the mighty white rhino “face-to-face”, observe kiwi - New Zealand's national icon, and stroll through an alpine themed aviary for close encounters with NZ kea, the world's only mountain parrot.
Thrill seekers can experience the awesome lion encounter which takes people through the African lion habitat on board our specially modified vehicle for extremely close views of the “King of Beasts” (costs and conditions apply).
Scheduled feed presentations occur throughout the day enabling people to enjoy the antics of Tasmanian devils, cheetah, tigers, monkeys, meerkats and much more. An extensive native collection features a wide range of native birds and reptiles. An interactive farmyard enables people to pet domestic animals.
Guided tours operate daily. Large picnic areas, an adventure playground, a cafe and wildlife themed gift shop are all located on-site. Orana Wildlife Park provides the ultimate animal adventure for the entire family. It's a full day of fun!
