The New Plymouth Surf Rider’s Club was formed in 1991 by a group of sixty five New Plymouth surfers who managed to secure a vacant council owned building as their clubhouse, which has undergone extensive renovation and improvement by club members over the years and proudly overlooks Fitzroy Beach from its enviable position on the foreshore.
We now number over 400 financial members ranging in age from 7 to 65 years, and our members come from all walks of life. Although there is still a sold base of foundation members, we now have a wide range of surfers involved with the club including retirees, juniors, women, families, people from all over New Zealand and from countries as diverse as Australia, USA, England, Portugal and Spain.
