To have a world-class performing arts centre in Auckland had been a dream for many people, and in 1989, it finally became a reality.
Aotea Centre took four years to construct at a cost of $128.5 million. Aotea Centre is the largest performing arts centre of its kind in New Zealand, with incredible facilities, a unique, contemporary design and state-of-the-art technology.
The main auditorium seats 2,256 people.
