The Irish Rovers are returning to New Zealand for one final stint after 50 years of extensive tours.
“After this we’ll still be recording, performing at special events and the tours will be short and sweet," says Rovers founder George Millar. "I think it’s wiser to leave those big tours to the younger bands.”
Canadian/Irish band The Irish Rovers have released 41 albums, with their song Drunken Sailor having somewhat of a revival recently with 10 million views on YouTube, which introduced the Rovers to a younger audience. Millar responded by heading back to the studio and recording a new CD full of songs of the sea, including a tribute to The Titanic for its 100th anniversary.
The Farewell to Rovin' tour will see the band play 20 shows across New Zealand.
