Creative Talks Malcolm Calder Producer and Senior Arts Admin

Malcolm Calder is attempting - with limited success - his retirement from a lifetime in the performing arts industry.

He is best known to North Shore residents as the producer of the annual presentation of Bruce Mason’s play The End of the Golden Weather held on Takapuna Beach each Christmas Day, and along with Sir Roger Hall, founded NZ Theatre Month.

But Malcolm has been a senior figure in the performing arts for many years, managing, and directing some of Australia and New Zealand's major theatres and arts organisations. He’s worked with venues across four Australian states and in New Zealand, including Red Leap Theatre Trust, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and NZ Theatre Month trust.

In addition to producing duties, he is still a regular reviewer of theatre productions all around Aotearoa.

The PumpHouse Theatre’s Creative Talks series aims to bring the community together with creatives to discover more about their process and what inspires them. Each event explores what goes on behind the scenes to create their unique art. There is something for everyone with an interest in the arts and what inspires and drives creativity.
The event is free with tea and coffee provided. Booking a seat on The PumpHouse website is recommended due to the limited number of spaces available.
