The walk and talk will commence at the historic Shortland wharf (in use continuously since 1867) and will include the wharf itself, and numerous historic sites in the vicinity. Including the first Methodist church service (1867), first European cemetary in Thames, early sites and Shortland Hotel etc. We will then walk down to the Kauaeranga bridge and point out the original railway bridge, the original road bridge and Parawai Mission Station. Returning to Shortland wharf to disperse.

This walk and talk is hosted by Dave Wilton (local archaeologist) and is being run in conjunction with the Echo Walks Festival.
