The speaker for our November monthly talk will be Dr Graeme Elliott and his talk is titled "Albatrosses on the way out? The decline of wandering albatrosses on Antipodes and the Auckland Islands".
Wandering albatrosses are the among the largest albatrosses, having a wing span of 3 meters. Graeme is a Department of Conservation scientist working with birds. Along with his partner Dr Kath Walker, Graeme has been travelling to the sub-Antarctic islands for over 30 years to study wandering albatrosses. They have been using tracking devices to try and discover why the albatross populations have been declining. Graeme is a great speaker and it should be a very interesting talk.
Please note the venue is the ground floor meeting room in the Marlborough Community Centre - use the entrance on Twelfth Lane (Farmers' car park).
