These classes give students the space and courage to taste and try presenting, acting, voice & accents, public speaking and improvisation in a fun and supportive environment…

Each topic will be covered by a specialist tutor. Created by Shine School of Confidence and led by their key tutors these sessions will explore the expressive potential of performance.

Acting - being in character

Presenting - present and deliver

Moving - working with the body

Voice - as an instrument

Students will work with a variety of texts but will also improvise and use their imaginations. There will be a focus on developing the imagination and the voice to create authentic, believable performances while having a blast of course!

Shine School of Confidence inspires confidence and imagination in kids, helping them to communicate effectively and build self-belief while having fun of course! Shine was founded by Nina Burchett, who has acted in film, theatre and television in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and USA.

Tutor Lynette Forday is an actor, presenter, writer, journalist and motivational speaker. A familiar face on NZ screens for well over two decades, Lynette’s work on Shortland Street made her a household name but her work extends far beyond the show. Before she began acting, Lynette was an accomplished Ballet Dancer. At 17 she was the youngest dancer to be employed by the Royal NZ Ballet Company. Ballet took her to America and Britain where she developed a love for acting. She returned to Australia and one of 18 selected from 3000 applicants to be accepted into the world renowned Acting University NIDA, where actors such as Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman trained. Other highlights of Lynette’s career include presenting the international travel show ‘Destination Planet Earth’. A published writer and voice over talent, Lynette is also passionate about motivational speaking. She enjoys mentoring the performers of tomorrow.
