TAPAC is a performing arts centre with four studios and a 120-140 seat theatre.
TAPAC encourages a diverse range of hirers.
The studios and the theatre may be hired by a range of people, from individual emerging artists, community groups, film and television production companies, professional artists and established companies.
TAPAC attracts artists and companies because of its theatre, which is custom-built and professionally managed. This provides opportunities for people to see performances that might not otherwise be staged in Auckland. TAPAC offers arts groups an opportunity to workshop and develop new work in its four outstanding studios available for hire seven days a week.
The Centre has the support of the Auckland performing arts community, including The Auckland Philharmonia, Auckland Theatre Company, TEMPO Dance, NBR New Zealand Opera and the UNITEC School of Performing and Screen Arts. Leading New Zealand actors Michael Hurst and Jennifer Ward-Lealand are the Patrons of the Centre.
TAPAC has far reaching benefits for Auckland City because it provides a place where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can become involved in positive, developmental and healthy activities.
TAPAC opened in July 2003.
