This year’s lecture is titled “Exhibiting Samoa-New Zealand Relations from 1923 to 2007” and is given by Dr Safua Akeli Amaama.
The nature of Samoa’s relationship with New Zealand has been displayed within multiple exhibition spaces which include an Agricultural Show and Fair (1923), the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition (1939-40), the South Pacific Festival of Arts (1976), a National Library of New Zealand Samoa exhibition (1998), and a Pacific show at Te Papa Museum (2007). This talk presents an overview of Samoa-New Zealand relations through displays, and the broader events of mobility that converged ideas, objects and peoples.
Tea and coffee are available from 6:30pm; lecture begins at 7:00pm.
