Join hundreds of you fellow Cantabrians at 1pm, Saturday, 11th of May at the Bridge of Remembrance.
During this protest we will be commemorating the 76th anniversary of the 1948 Nakba (meaning "catastrophe" in Arabic) wherein hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced from their homes by the Israeli military, and militias.
This anniversary of the 1948 Nakba is particularly poignant, given that the 2 million Palestinians of Gaza are currently living, day by day, through another catastrophe. Another Nakba.
Join us to demand the New Zealand government:
* States clearly that Israel must not invade the Gazan city of Rafah
* Condemns Israel's slaughter and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians
* Takes actions for an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza
* Reinstates funding for UNRWA
* Pulls NZ soldiers out of the war on Yemen
* Joins South Africa's case of genocide against Israel at the ICJ
* Closes down the Israeli embassy in Wellington
* Grants emergency humanitarian visas to Palestinians in Gaza who have family in Aotearoa
* Affirms that the Nakba, the forcible displacement of Palestinians from their home, must never happen again
All ages are welcome! Bring a water bottle, and sun block.
