White Heron Sanctuary Tours provide the unique experience of seeing New Zealand's only White Heron (Kotuku) nesting site.
The White Heron Tour takes place only during the herons' breeding season, from late October until early March each year. You'll see the magnificent White Heron in its natural environment, along with the Royal Spoonbill (Kotuku Ngutu Papa) and the region's other birdlife.
White Heron Sanctuary Tours also offer the Rainforest Nature Tour all year round. This consists of a scenic jetboat ride down the Waitangi Taona River and into the Waitangi Roto Nature Reserve – home to one of nature's oldest ecosystems.
White Heron Sanctuary Tours work in conjunction with the Department of Conservation and are the only operators in the area.
