We provide opportunities to the students in our all girls’ school to be outstanding young women who will leave us well prepared for the next step in their lives, ready to make a positive contribution to society.

We have been nationally recognised as a leading educator in New Zealand. Our teaching methods are student focused and we strive to make academic subjects enjoyable and of high quality. Our students receive above average results for NCEA and we take great pride in providing outstanding and varied academic studies.

At WGHS we encourage our students to get involved in the wide range of cultural activities we offer. We have school drama productions, kapa haka, fashion, photography, painting and design, language studies, cultural leadership and a vast amount of other cultural and artistic endeavours.

Our school has an incredible amount to offer young women wishing to pursue sport. Our students constantly excel in both national and international arenas. We have champions in sports such as hockey, basketball, outdoor pursuits, lacrosse and many others.

WGHS is highly regarded for its attractive physical setting and well-resourced classrooms, particularly its: purpose-built (specialist) classrooms, hospitality suite (opened in 2006), impressive new library (opened in 2000) and well-equipped science & technology suites.
