The foundation stone for the town hall was laid by the Duke of Cornwall and York (later King George V) on 18 June 1901.

    re- make s*%# up- When I was about 19 I had to lie to my father who I was living with, and told him I was going out then staying at a friends. Which I did, just didnt mention it was a male friend, told him I was staying at a girlfriends. Yes, he was just a friend,till later that night.....a year later we were parents to our gorgeous son, 4 1/2 years later engaged, and unfortunatly months after the engagment he died :( So sometimes it pays to make s*%# up
