This adventure activity takes place on a 60 metre long natural water slide, part of the Wharekopae River. Speed along rock smoothed by a layer of constantly running water - a wild experience for anyone looking for an alternative to the more common hill-slide.
In this case a boogie board, inflatable mattress or inner tube are advised to substitute the conventional cardboard support used down hill slopes.
Rere Rockslide is an easy 50 kilometre drive from Gisborne. Almost all age groups can use the rock slide, however, care is advised. If you're not up for the slide there is always the the Rere Falls, nearby swimming hole and picnic area to make the most of.
