A Manatū Taonga audio guide to Rangitoto. Check out the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's audio guide in the image carousel above.

The landscape of New Zealand’s largest city is dotted with 48 volcanoes. The oldest volcano last erupted some 150,000 years ago - the youngest, Rangitoto Island, is just 600 years old. A symmetrical volcanic cone, it has been colonised by red-flowering pōhutukawa forest.
