The historic village of Ongaonga home to a collection of quaint historic buildings clustered around a Department of Conservation's field office to form a charming historic village which includes a beautifully designed and restored butchers shop. The village also hosts an art gallery showing contemporary work from local artists, as well as the original community hall, a tradesman's centre, from where most of the original village was built from, as well as a general store, and a village pub.
The historic village is open to the public on Sundays from 2pm - 4pm, or by request for group bookings, phone: (06) 856 6735.
