Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the South Island of New Zealand is an amazing collection of airworthy World War II fighters.
The main purpose of the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum is to honour and record the history of New Zealand fighter pilots and their crew and to educate the public about their exploits.
On a per capita basis New Zealand contributed more fighter pilots than any other country during WWII. Over 5000 New Zealanders flew fighter aircraft in the service of their country.
The museum tells of these pilots and their deeds in audio, video, photographic and story form. These accounts range from biographies of all the fighter aces to absorbing descriptions of their experiences.
