Discover evidence of our history in action.
For every major event, be it celebration or tragedy, New Zealand Police have played a role. Their experiences, and the evidence they have gathered, tell the real life stories of more than 125 years of New Zealand policing.
Examine original evidence of the people and events which have shaped New Zealand and the New Zealand Police. Displays include weapons, forensic evidence and police equipment from criminal cases and significant events such as the Springbok Tour and the Rainbow Warrior bombing.
Explore evidence of our changing society and changing policing. See first hand how New Zealand Police are working to build safer communities.
The New Zealand Police Museum is open 10am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday and general admission is free.
Public programmes:
A changing programme of activities for children of all ages includes families dressing up in police uniform and following a trail of evidence, identifying a series of mysterious fingerprints or unravelling our latest Junior Detective Mystery!
Group bookings:
Group tours and a wide range of education programmes are available and can be adapted to suit individual needs and ages. Contact us so we can help you plan your visit on (04) 238 3141 or museum@police.govt.nz
