Hawke's Bay Regional Council's broad responsibilities are the economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the community. Our major operational focus is on the environment, managing effects on water, land, air and coastal use while providing opportunities for people to use these resources. Added to that, Council has a leading role in biodiversity and biosecurity, regional economic investment, and in infrastructure like transport and flood management. Our region extends from Mahia in the north, across to the ranges and south as far down as Porangahau.
Each month, with the exception of January, the regional councillors of Hawke's Bay Regional Council meet to discuss and decide key matters concerning the region's air, land, water and economy.
