Showgrounds Park & Event Centre and Showgrounds Park MotorCamp, are located just a few minutes south of the main shopping centre of Gisborne City.
These remarkable grounds and facilities are owned by the Poverty Bay A and P Association establishedin 1875.
In previous years the main event hosted here was the Agricultural and Pastoral Association Spring Show which combined a carnival atmosphere along with displays and demonstrations from the prosperous rural sector of Gisborne and the East Coast of New Zealand.
Recently, the Association, with generous donations from the Gisborne community spent over a million dollars upgrading the motor camp facilities and building a multi-purpose Event Centre (1200 square metres). Now the Park hosts equestrian events, rodeos and even fireworks displays. The new Event Centre caters for anything and everything… from trade shows to conferences and even once-in-a-lifetime family reunions!
