Due to damage and resulting economic downturn sustained in the February 2011 earthquake COCA will remain closed until further notice. The trustees are committed to re-opening the gallery. The plan is to establish a strong financial position and to re-open with the revised vision when possible.

The Centre of Contemporary Art is situated in the cultural precinct which surrounds other galleries and an energetic part of the city.
