  • "I am inspired by very ordinary people that take time out to do a little extra for others. My neighbour that left feijoa's on my back door step, the lady that let me in line before her at the checkout or the girl who let me hold her lovely newborn baby on the bus. Expressions of kindness inspire me. Expressions of community like the hundreds of people that turned out for Anzac day in our little town."

  • "My mother-in-laws remote bach in the Bay of Islands on a windy and blustery night, right on the beachfront. it is so dark that you can't see in front of you and the seagulls that fly at night look like spectres as the moonlight reflects off their wings. Waves crashing on the beach and the wind blowing through the tea tree that lap at the roof. Bright red eyes of the possums as you sometimes catch them peering at you from the trees as you make the chilling trip to the...longdrop:("

  • "Haha...beer goes stale if it's kept for too long SOOO I would get my friends and famz around, choose teams and we'd set up an obstacle course something like top town and have a competition all the while supping down ice cold delicious NZ beer. I'd organise a prize for the best team..you've guessed it...a fridge full of beer!! So we could do it all again..and again..oh..and agaiin..!!"

  • "the force of love is when you look at your baby granddaughter and know that every trial and tribulation in your life has been worth that first special moment and that feeling sometimes washes over you when you glance at her at the breakfast table, or when you take her on a 'bear hunt' or when she learns how to butter her own toast. When she tells you ' you look pretty today Nana". It may not be romantic love but it is enduring!!"

  • "My best collaboration was with my kapahaka group from between 1997 - 2000. We got together an awsome group of students from Auckland University and really worked to our collective strengths. My strength was logistics and planning practices, transport, food and fundraising. Erana was responsible for updatiing costumes and keeping disciple. Dom and Val played guitar, Val composed, Summer did poi and action song actions. We were a pumping group and performed at many functions around Auckland including Firedance and Pasifika fashion awards."
