• "Attended by around 35 prospective & current home educators, the MoE staffer who processes Exemptions in the Auckland region took us through the current Exemption pack & explained what he was looking for in each section. Plenty of opportunities for questions & feedback. It was very helpful for expanding on what was required, dealing with ‘tricky’ issues & clarifying common misconceptions. Other topics touched on included recent statistics, special needs, unschooling, engaging others to help with the learning process, etc. Those who attended found the evening very helpful for giving them confidence in approaching the task & a greater understanding of the MoE perspective. A full report, inc what was covered in each section, can be read in the AHE bulletin due next week - so members can keep an eye out for that. We aim to repeat the session later in the year.
