• "I went on a pilgrimage to Jamaica in May this year - visited Bob Marley birth place and tomb (at Nine Mile) and his house in Kingston plus other reggae related sites - at the Bob Marley museum the guide was thrilled to learn than NZ also has a national holiday on Bob's birthday (though for us its Waitangi Day). I'd love to see Ziggy he sounds so much like his dad."

• "Once salmon fishing in Scotland I cast down stream and a salmon took my fly, shook its head and spat the fly out. I recast and for once didn't screw the cast up. The fly landed exactly where I wanted, just in front of where the salmon had been. The salmon grabbed the fly again and was on and raced down stream. I fought the salmon for a minute then "bang" it was gone. I reeled in and the fly was all chewed up. I still wear that fly on my "lucky fishing hat" because casting back onto that salmon was such a buzz and although the fish got away it made my day. The fly reminds me that fishing is not about catching it's about having fun. Tickets for Sunday please."
