  • "Definitely my favorite New Zealand bush experience was when I was hiking alone in the far North starting on 90 mile beach. As the sun dropped and I got closer to the first beach where I'd camp, I ran into a local guy who'd been fishing. He immediately offered me a great looking fish and an abalone to take for dinner: "Ya gotta eat off the laund, mate!" I confess, I'd never even made a fire by the myself. But that night I had the most amazing time playing bush girl: making fire, cleaning fish, bathing in the ocean, with only the company of a chubby half moon and an abalone that I guiltily had no idea how to eat. :) Now MUSIC in the bush...that sounds like a FANTASTIC idea. I would so love to dive into the green and shake some tail to those incredible bands!!!"

  • "If I were to pick a duet-mate it would have to be Xavier Rudd (Australian). Xavier can simultaneously play the didgeridoo, drums, guitar, harmonica, and sing. If I did a duet with him, I could simultaneously play the kazoo, wooden sticks and hang a cow bell around my neck and we would still, absolutely, sound amazing! : ) "

  • "My favorite dancing experience occurred last year at the Jambalaya Music Festival in Rotorua. My partner and I are both passionate about Latin music and spent the whole weekend with huge grins on our faces and maracas on our tails. The highlight: when we first arrived we glanced at the festival’s program and read a description of the parade, an event where anyone could get dressed up, anyone could join. My partner, a fearless fanny-shaker immediately stated: “We’re joining the parade!” We ran out to the $2 store and collected an odd but vibrant assortment of colorful hair, goofy glasses, and bunches of fake flowers. With green feathers sprouting from his head and a tall tiara of roses sprouting from mine we were transformed into “Jambaloco” and “Jambalady.” Although we were certainly not the most well-trained, coordinated, or elaborately-decorated entrants in the parade, I doubt anyone had more fun dancing than we did, sandwiched between amazing samba groups, smiles permanently fixed on our faces. :D"

  • "For me, “romance” is not necessarily a descriptor for events containing rose petals, background music, or hours of labor. My favorite romantic moments are those that are perfect because just adding a person you are crazy about to a simple circumstance makes simple pleasures extraordinary and quick moments worthy of recalling over and over… With this definition, my “most romantic moment” was with my current partner, a crazy German boy who was brave enough to commit to 6 weeks in a Volkswagen camper with me through Europe last year. The night that evokes a silly grin was in Interlaken, Switzerland. Our camper was parked across the street from a field of cows, each with their own large bell that “clunked” or “binged” its contribution to the erratic musical composition that played all day, all night. Because we had underestimated the chill of Swiss fall, our plans for outdoor dining were overruled by self-preservation. Instead, we huddled in very un-sexy wool and fleece inside the crowded VW where we melted first a Swiss cheese fondue, then a chocolate one to drown our raspberries. At that moment, my prince wasn’t on a white horse, but instead was the man in the wool beanie who looked at me with glittering eyes and with a chocolate-smeared smile that affirmed that YES, the cows were playing Mozart, and YES, this really was romance at its very best. Now that we are finally together in New Zealand, I would love to share a similar moment sitting next to him at this show….maybe this time a little better-scrubbed and in a two-legged crowd instead. : ) "
