  • "Over 5000 people enjoyed a wonderful day in the Historic Village, 24 cultural groups presented dances and songs from Europe, Asia, Pacific Island, South America; these were on the main stage and throughout the Village making the old buildings and streets vibrate with music and sounds of happy crowds. Smell of fabulous food and drinks tempted all the time to try something new and exciting and there were the cute alpacas to see and lovely ponies to ride on or in a miniature carrage for the childre to ride in. We had lots of photographers taking pictures - see them on our website, and on BOP Times, Weekend Sun, Gate photography- you can buy them there."

  • "10 teams took part in the tournament and the Concordia Cup went to the Brazilian team this year again; second place to Australia and third to Argentina. The winner is off to the National competition in Auckland in November. Entertainment by Zumba group made us all participate and the fabulous Kapa Haka group gave great performance. Thai and South African food plus coffee for adult and candy floss and popcorn for children kept everyone fed during the day. Great day for the whole community, despite the cold and windy weather. Teams can book now for Ethkick 2012 on 30 September."

  • "Over 5000 visitors came to our event in a great venue of the Historic Village on a fabulous day. The programme started with our local HTK Maori Youth group, followed by 21 items of authentic traditional dance, music and songs from a range of countries: Nepal, China, France, India, Korea and others and finishing with a modern reggae band D.J.Sito made of Chilean and Maori musicians. Amazing variety of food (26 stalls) ranging from Indian, Thai, Filipino to Samoan, Dutch, South African and Argentinean. Latin Quarter had its own French, Brazilian and Italian food, music and a game of Petanque, and coffee of course. Zumba, Thai Chi, Brazilian singers and Flamenco dancers entertained the crowds throughout the Village. Pony rides, bouncy castle and cute alpacas kept children busy. A Discovery tent area had henna painting, Thai food carvings, te Wharau Mai Tawhiti performing group and a group of Japanese ladies making paper cranes and collecting donations and signatures for Japan. Action all "
