"Don't think of it as a retirement. Think instead "hibernation". Pooh Bear thought he coud retire, but has come back to us this year in full force. So enjoy the rest Ted E, eat lots of honey, watch indulgently as Chuck, Grandpa Fred, Kevin and A.N.G.E.L. make their pathetic attempts to eclipse your star status and then, when you are refreshed, come back to delight us."

"I am nostalgic for the days when we had only one television channel. Choice was limited and the television was not the focus of our lives. It was a novelty and a distraction, but did not rule the way we existed. On summer evenings we would stay outside until after the sun had set, we would invent ways of entertaining ourserlves, we would come together as a neighbourhood to make our entertainment. And when we had to go inside we spoke to each other or if we needed "me" time we could escape into a book or just daydream in our rooms. And for a real treat we would on occasions go to the theatre or a concert for and be amazed at the talent displayed by people from all walks of life. We were innocents!!"

"The easy catch that got away. About 12 years ago we had gone on holiday to the Bay of Islands. We took our four golden retrievers for a walk along the beach and half way along we came across a john dorey flapping around in some kelp on the shoreline. The fish had exhausted itself trying to get free of the kelp so it was easy pickings and we were looking foward to a lovely fish dinner that night. And we would have enjoyed that if one of dogs hadn't taken the fish off the kitchen bench at the motel later in the afternoon. In all fairness to the dog - he at least shared the prize with his mother and two sisters!!! Saturday or Sunday would be good - thanks"
