  • "I'd like it on a boat, I say. Yes, on a boat, come what may. With a goat or a stoat, even if it didn't float. Yes I'd like it on a boat, you see, With you and him and her and ME !"

  • "Intoxicating sounds: the deep rumble of my beloved's teasing laughter. young children giggling. a rain storm from the warmth and safety of my bed. Hearing "I have a surprise of you...". The rustle of leaves in the trees on a summers day like today."

  • "This time of year I'm nostalgic for Christmas in Canada. A warm house filled with Mom's baking, old fashioned Christmas pudding, soy nog (the newer, ethical egg nog), drunken board games with the relatives, tobagganing at my aunt and uncle's, and Christmas carols playing everywhere (yes, I said it, Christmas carols)."

  • "I was driving in Canada over a mountain pass (the Coquihalla highway) in the winter. Suddenly we hit some black ice, did a slow motion spin and ended up facing a lorry. Fortunately, due to the conditions, everyone was driving extremely slowly and the lorry had much better stopping power than we did. Phew!"

  • "New Zealand was on my must-visit list, because I was born here and left when I was a baby. Now I'm working on being a real Kiwi and I've been here for a year and a half. I love this place. I would love to go pretty much anywhere! If there is one thing that I have learnt in this life, it is that the world is full of wonderful people, no matter where you go. "A stranger is a friend you haven't met yet." But if I had to choose some of my top preferences I would say the continent of Africa, Spain, or India."

  • "My most memorable New Year's Eve was New Year's 1999 in Bali. The theme song everywhere we went was of course, Prince's 1999. I can't hear the song without remembering my new drunken Taiwanese, Canadian, Australian, and Balinese friends. Oh yes, and kissing a mystery Dutch boy on the dance floor. It was all the more memorable because it was such uncharacteristic behaviour for me! I had so much fun, but I paid for my sins the next day with such a hangover we had to delay our travel plans! Ironically there are parts of my most memorable New Year's that I can't remember!"

  • "It is definitely better to be talented, no matter what kind of talents we are talking about! Beauty fades, my friend, but your talents will surely grow over time. Not to mention the fact that we are always beautiful in the eyes of those who love us. So who needs to have "the look" that the masses approve of at the moment? Your talent is yours forever."

  • "They should open with their current favourite song. This will get the group going and their energy and enthusiasm will show through and make it a hit with the audience no matter which song they choose. So Rhombus, which is your favourite? What will it be?"

  • "My "phantom" won my heart when I was just about to leave on a 3 month trip to my hometown in Canada to visit friends and family. Just before I left, he surprised me with a photo album that he had assembled with pictures of places we had been, parties we'd attended, and groups of our friends. He said, "This album is to remind you to come back to New Zealand where you are loved by many, especially by me. I love you, please come home to me." I almost didn't leave! Now we are together in New Zealand living happily ever after."
