No, but perhaps an Open Mic event with performers chosen via web blog/voting, because even though we all love the 'hero' Kiwi artists as listed in others' comments below, there are so many bands and artists yet to be discovered. The whole point of difference for Kiwi music is that the goal to becoming a popular artist is completely obtainable in this country, so why not showcase these up-and-comings along with the well established? The rest of the world seriously has no idea of the talent and expertise in music that comes from little old Aotearoa. Just reading these comments below proves how diverse Kiwi music is and how many fantastic musicians we have. No matter your preference in genre, there's absolutely something for everyone. Cheers Kiwi music and cheers BDO - you remind us every year in one whopping event that we have a unique and bloody brilliant bubble of great music in NZ.
