Pixies New Zealand Tour 2017

Groundbreaking rockers, Pixies, announce their return to New Zealand in March 2017 as part of their Head Carrier world tour. It was almost seven years since their debut New Zealand concerts.

Basking in success over the last three decades, Pixies performed to sell-out crowds for two Auckland shows in March 2010 and a Christchurch date in August 2010.

Touring New Zealand in celebration of their latest album, Head Carrier (out now through Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam), the tour sees vocalist/guitarist Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago welcome bassist Paz Lenchatin to the Pixies’ permanent line-up.

Fresh from a brilliant set at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Auckland post-punk outfit, Cut Off Your Hands will be performing with the Pixies on all three shows in support of their new singles, 'Hate Somebody' and 'Higher Lows and Lower Highs'.

Lenchantin has been the band’s touring bassist since January 2014 and played an integral part in the recording of Head Carrier. Her cool and dreamy soprano can be heard singing lead on the track ‘All I Think About Now’.

“Paz is a joy to be around,” said Lovering. “She’s very funny, and we’re having more fun than we’ve ever had as a band, we all have a blast together, on and off stage.”

Set lists from recent UK shows have soared between the old and new, from their 1987 debut to tracks from the new album. The Telegraph exclaiming “Pixies pummel the Brixton Academy with songs of visceral brilliance,” and The Independent stating “Their job here was done and done wonderfully."

Pixies will be performing in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
