Titirangi Festival of Music 2014
A stellar line up of musicians will participate in this year’s Titirangi Festival of Music. The festival is a musical event that showcases local musicians and engages the community in hands-on way with music.
The festival starts with free music from 6 to 8pm around the village. From the techno-latin of Chico con tumbao to the soul sounds of ‘Sweet As’ there will be a great selection of local talent on display. The night then moves into a ticketed café concerts with many choices on the menu, such as the jazz stylings of Spiral the blues roots grit of Storehouse and the Nukes to a concert by much-loved Jazzers Nairobi Trio in the RSA. It’s bound to be a great night! The cornerstone event of the festival is the ever popular and free Village Day (from 10.30 am on Saturday April 5th).
Expect loads of family-friendly activities on this day with performances all day featuring such acts as local roots band dDub and street music AK Samba. There will also be face painting, colouring competitions, buskers and street performers all set to a brilliant musical backdrop. The whole village will be pumping out the great coffee and food specials all day with free music in and around the café’s.
Meanwhile a workshop programme will be giving local families a chance to learn Samba and African style drumming, and Ukulele. Village day will be a great day for the family and anyone who wants to experience some of the best music west-auckland has to offer, and perhaps even have a go at beginning to learn an instrument.
This year the Titirangi Memorial hall becomes the ‘Festival Ballroom’ and will host a concert series featuring Sola Rosa on Saturday night and the ‘Music Tour all day Sunday.
These will both be great nights of music and tickets will be extremely limited. Tickets for all concerts are available through the Titirangi Pharmacy, Titirangi RSA or online through Eventfinda.
Put it in your calendar now Titirangi Festival of Music Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April.
