Waiheke Book Festival
From the spoken word of Sam Hunt, to the guitar and song of Chuck Berry – the 2012 festival will be an opportunity to explore the extraordinary of words and culture. Words come to life in this year’s programme of performances, discussions, workshops and films.
Not only at the heart of books, words are critical to screen play, scripts in the cinema. Take a behind the scenes look at an extraordinary film, introducing Words at the Cinema where Stephanie Bennett presents the making of her signature film 'Hail! Hail Rock N Roll' featuring Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Julian Lennon and Linda Ronstadt - people who changed music forever.
Biographer Janet Hunt and Rob Tuwhare, Hone Tuwhare’s son, will read and discuss the life and times of one of our greatest poets. Join Sam Hunt at the Owhanake Barn as he brings to life his latest work Knucklebones.
Stretch the mind with emeritus professor of psychology and author Michael Corballis. Wannabe wordsmiths should not miss the workshops for self publishing novelists, playwrights and script writers.
Book launches and talks by their authors round out this year’s festival. On Sunday 'A life at Mudbrick', the adventure of creating one of Auckland’s iconic destination restaurants and vineyards. And on Saturday Children’s book 'I Love Lemonade' - by Mark and Rowan Sommerset
