Vodafone New Zealand Music Award Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2014 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards have been announced, with Lorde and Sol3 Mio leading the nominations.

After winning the Tui for Single of the Year with 'Royals' last year, Lorde is hoping to achieve the same with this year's song 'Team' and is also nominated for Mentos Album of the Year with 'Pure Heroine', Best Female Solo Artist, The Edge Best Pop Album and for the Vodafone People's Choice Award, which Sol3 Mio is also nominated for.

The Samoan trio are also nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Group and Mentos Album of the Year for their self-titled debut, as well as winning the award for Pacific music album earlier in the year.

Ladi6 and David Dallas received four nominations each, for their respective albums 'Automatic' and 'Falling Into Place'.

Also announced at the nominations reveal were the winners of the Technical Awards. Anna Taylor and Ken Clark won Best Album Cover for Liam Finn's 'The Nihilist' and Joel Little won Best Producer and Best Engineer for his work on Lorde's 'Pure Heroine'.

The NZ Herald Legacy Award was presented to Supergroove, who were recognised for their contribution to shaping the New Zealand music industry.

The three finalists for the Critics Choice Award are Estere, Lake South and Randa. The winner will be announced at a showcase at Auckland's King's Arms on Wednesday 29th October.
