Mexican-American comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is coming to New Zealand for the first time with his 'Unity Through Laughter' world tour this September.
Star of movies Magic Mike and A Haunted House 2, the stand-up comic will be performing at Auckland's Civic Theatre. His Youtube clips have had more than half a billion views, while his DVDs Hot & Fluffy and I'm Not Fat... I'm Fluffy have sold over two million copies. Iglesias is releasing his stand-up comedy film, the Fluffy Movie, in July.

Known as the "fluffy" comic in a Hawaiian shirt, the 37-year old American funny man (born to Mexican parents) often riffs about his girthy middle, with his good-natured raillery about how little dancing it takes for him to work up a sweat at the nightclub or how hearing his girlfriend coo the words "chocolate cake" over the telephone works for him like phone sex, evoking laughter and gaining him fans worldwide. His many YouTube clips have had well over half a billion hits! After two sellout tours of Australia, Gabriel will visit New Zealand for the first time.
Gabriel Iglesias has been described as unbelievably witty, electrifying and as a talented performer who has the ability to consistently deliver a uniquely hilarious comedy experience –from start to finish – in every venue he performs in. His high-octane show is a sure-fire hit: a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring all his personal experiences to life. Born in Chula Vista, California, Gabriel Iglesias is the youngest of six children, raised by a single mother. Growing up, the family lived in Section 8, low-income housing in the city of Long Beach. It was during his childhood that he developed a strong sense of humor to deal with the obstacles he faced.
In 1997, he set out to hone his comedic skills and started performing stand-up anywhere he could find an audience including biker bars and “hole in the wall” joints. As a young boy, he never could have foreseen the incredible success he has experienced. His is an American success story, coming from very humble beginnings and achieved through determination and years of hard work. Today, Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians and he performs year-round in sold-out concerts across the United States and Internationally.
On July 11, 2014 Iglesias will release his highly anticipated stand-up comedy film, The Fluffy Movie, theatrically. Gabriel can currently be seen co-starring opposite Marlon Wayans in the comedy feature A Haunted House 2. Later this year Gabriel will begin production on the highly anticipated sequel to the box office hit Magic Mike. Produced by Iron Horse Entertainment, Magic Mike XXL will be released in cinemas mid 2015. Gabriel will be reprising his role as Tobias, the DJ alongside stars Matthew McConaughey and Channing Tatum.
In April 2013 Comedy Central premiered Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy in an unprecedented two-night comedy special. The hit special is currently available on DVD and digital download from iTunes. It follows in the footsteps of his highly successful first two DVD specials Hot & Fluffy and I’m Not Fat...I’m Fluffy.
