Andrew Tosh – is coming to New Zealand, and will be performing at the Mangawhai Tavern on Sunday 3rd June (Queen's Birthday Weekend).
Andrew Tosh, son of reggae pioneer Peter Tosh, will perform a tribute to his late father, along with his own compositions. He will be backed by one of New Zealand’s premier reggae bands, David Grace & Injustice, plus Special Guests.
Andrew Tosh grew up around his famous father and he had already started his recording career when his father was shot dead in 1987 (Andrew sang two songs at his funeral). Andrew’s debut album, Original Man, was released later that year and in 1989 the acclaimed follow-up, Make Place For The Youth, received a Grammy nomination. He has released seven albums to date.
For his part, David Grace is himself regarded as a pioneer of New Zealand reggae – he co-founded one of NZ’s very first reggae bands, Chaos, in 1978, before forming the highly successful Dread Beat & Blood.
Tickets are priced at $47.50 (door sales $60). Doors open at 4pm.
