One of the world’s most highly respected chefs, Rick Stein is to visit New Zealand this winter with his first ever theatre show on these shores – Rick Stein’s Food Odyssey – at Auckland’s ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, on 4 and 5 August, and the St James Theatre in Wellington on 7 and 8 August 2010.

Rick Stein has attained huge popularity and acclaim for his numerous TV cookery series and documentaries, as well as his best-selling cookery books. Rick’s zeal for quality fresh food and sustainable fishing and farming practices, has taken him from continent to continent, across magnificent shorelines in search of the very best produce the world has to offer. Now his love of food and travel brings him to New Zealand with a special, limited season tour: Rick Stein’s Food Odyssey.

After paying $300 for VIP tickets we were most disappointed in the service. Show was fantastic. Cocktails with Rick Stein, I don't think so! White wine Pinot Gris which I detest was served. No champagne/sparkling wine. No cocktails!! Finger food was very sparse and we had to ask to be served some. Mr Stein appeared for a brief time, spoke only with a select (key) people, Gave a brief speech on a poduim and then disappered. Not even a free tea or coffee at interval for VIP ticket holders. We had to buy our own. NOT GOOD ENOUGH organisers. Sure we were given a surprise gift bag with copy of Mr Stein's cook book, a squashed chocolate, heaps of advertising brochures and a small bottle of olive oil. Would have been nice to have been able to get the cookbook signed by Mr Stein.
