Rossini’s beloved comic opera, The Italian Girl in Algiers, returns to stages in Wellington and Auckland after an absence of more than 20 years. This is opera at its finest, a fun story, great music and fabuous costumes...plus projected subtitles so we can understand what's going on!
Set in sizzling Algiers – a heady hotbed of polygamy, piracy and plotting, The Italian Girl in Algiers is a spicy brew in which many forces are at work – the battle of the sexes and the clash of cultures just for starters, resulting in a fast-moving comedy of errors with more impossible plot twists than a soap opera.
