The Adults

Jon Toogood taking his critically acclaimed studio project onstage has been something of a musical reinvention at this stage of the Shihad frontman’s career. The NZ Herald called The Adults album “distinguished” in its diversity, which it certainly was – a collection of songs featuring Toogood joined by the combined and legendary talents of Tiki Taane, Shayne Carter, Ladi6, Julia Deans, Anika Moa and more.

Choosing to go with a stripped back powerhouse of a live line-up, Toogood selected Carter and Deans to join him as the live Adults – and if it is not enough to see three of the country’s most accomplished frontpeople and vocalists weaving their magic together, you can witness what the Herald came along to praise as “the symmetry of a beautifully melded trio” as they switch between instruments and breathe unexpected power into The Adults’ songs. Definitely some good old-fashioned grown-up fun.
