Acclaimed singer/songwriter Paul McLaney is pretty good at outdoing himself. From his initial solo forays, to the full band of Gramsci; collaborations with the likes of Anika Moa then Concord Dawn – then of course his stunning album Edin, (the reaction to which is summed up well by the NZ Listener: “If albums as sophisticated as Edin are rare in Kiwi pop it is not because people don’t want to make them but because there are few people who can” ); and the adored follow up Diamond Side firmly cementing him as one of New Zealand’s best career artist.
