Kidz in Space
Genre: Hip Hop, Rap
Country of Origin: New Zealand
The story begins when three guys (Ashley Hughes, Mat Neshat and Josh Fountain) with vastly different upbringings and musical backgrounds mysteriously crossed paths. Frustrated with the current state of music on Earth, they headed into orbit in search of a new sound. Bound by their intergalactic explorations they re-materialized as Kidz in Space.
They decided to base themselves in New Zealand, as it was removed enough from the rest of earth's population to avoid prying eyes, and set about making music, choosing a label named Move The Crowd as the best vehicle for their invasion. In short order they released an EP named Episode 001: Chasing Hayley which saw them take the top 20 singles chart by stealth, and the trio headed to the US on a reconnaissance mission which saw them play to packed crowds in New York City at CMJ Music Marathon. They returned armed with new intelligence and began work on their debut album, released in September of 2010, which will take their mission to the next level with their precisely constructed combination of pop, hip hop, rock and electronica.
