Growing vegetables is easy, fun, and very rewarding - as long as you know how!


This course is a kick-starter for growing veggies in your own garden, using methods inspired by the revolutionary ecological practice of Permaculture. The lessons can be applied to any site, large or small and are suitable for the New Zealand, and particularly the Marlborough climate.

How is the course presented?


09:00am - Learn about sustainable food prep and cooking straight from the garden
09:45am - Intro to Permaculture, garden design, and vegetable growing methods.
10:30am - Interactive tour of a thriving food garden
11:30am - How to create and maintain your own vegetable gardens
12:30pm - Hands-on activity in the garden, with a focus on soil health
13:00pm - Lunch by Simply Bento


Who is hosting the course?


Dan de Klerk, Nomadic Permaculture: With a decade of experience practicing Permaculture, Dan specializes in teaching Permaculture design, food growing, and sustainable living practices. His online course has helped over 200 students to grow their own food at home. His expertise extends to community-driven ecosystem restoration, and empowering others along their sustainability journey.

Midori Matsumura, Simply Bento: Inspired by Dan's online course, Midori dreams of transforming her land into a thriving oasis and providing fresh produce for her family while benefiting natural ecosystems. She runs a sushi catering business from home and would like to grow ingredients to feed into the healthy, fresh meals that she creates. Over three years, she has accumulated significant practical knowledge and insights to share.
