There will be 3 1/2 days of movement workshops, dance concerts, outdoor performances, fun, fitness and fellowship with a celebration closing ceremony dinner. It is open to all who identify with the christian faith, and those who wish to explore what faith and dance looks like. The dance confluence is for 12yrs - 92yrs with dancers of varying skill levels, genres and performing arts backgrounds.
The event opens at 7pm on thursday 28 march with registration, and an official opening with a live music creative worship dance session with jules riding, new zealand gospel singer.
On friday morning we will start with a flash mob practice then join in with harmony church good friday worship service at 10.15am.
On saturday morning we will start with a live music creative worship dance session followed by a speaker. Morning tea will be provided on saturday. Dance electives (2hrs) will be taught by international teachers from australia and the united kingdom with new original choreography which will be learned and performed at an pubic outdoor performance in and around the christchurch cbd. Afternoon workshops (1hr) will be taught by new zealand dance leaders. Free evening concerts in the auditorium will involve performances by invited soloists, groups and workshop presentations.
A refresh youth stream for 12yrs-29yrs will operate on the saturday with a special youth focused dance elective led by steven turner icdf youth rep online from the u.K. With an in-studio facilitator.
On sunday we will join harmony church easter service followed by afternoon rehearsals and the public outdoor performances. A celebration dinner will be held at the pegasus arms gastro pub, 14 oxford terrace, christchurch central city to finish off the program at 9pm.
Post confluence event:
On easter monday an optional post dance confluence gathering will be held at he puna taimoana hot pools in new brighton by the sea with brunch at 11am [at your cost] followed by a swim to soak any sore muscles from 12.30pm.
