Neurodiversity seems to be a hot topic of discussion lately. Famous singers such as Lewis Capaldi and Sia and actors such as Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum, have discussed their neurodiverse conditions. Lockdowns and social media have driven many adults to have startling realisations about their own neurodiverse conditions. It seems suddenly – all at once – the world has become aware that 15-20% of people have different types of brains.

This one-day workshop introduces you to the topic of neurodiversity and considers some of the key conditions that people live with. We look at:

•ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

•Autism

•The “Dys family” – dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia (Development Coordination Disorder)

•OCD – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

•Tourette’s Syndrome

Tik Tok creator and public speaker on neurodiversity, Nigel Sutton, will introduce the subject and facilitate you in discovering the definitions
and impacts of each of the key kinds of neurodiversity. Working together with other participants, you will consider many key commonalities that those living with various neurodivergent conditions experience. We will expose the realities of being neurodivergent in a “neurotypical world” and this will allow you to
develop empathy and practical strategies to support neurodivergent people to be their best.

New Zealand’s leading dyslexia expert Mike Styles, will provide an interactive and participatory session to assist you to understand and support a family member or friend who has dyslexia
or a similar learning difference.

You will be able to ask anything you want with our neurodivergent hot
seat session.

Find out from those offering “lived experience” what it is really like to have a different kind of brain. This
one day workshop is: ”Neurodiversity
in a Nutshell” – whether you know a little or a lot, whether you are a relative, employer, partner, friend,
or just interested to know more
about neurodiversity – this
workshop is for you!
