Ke lo Ke is not just any band; they are a fusion of some of New Zealand's most exceptional Latin and jazz musicians, each a master of their craft. These talented artists traverse different eras and genres of Cuban music while paying homage to its Afro-Cuban roots. Their music channels the spirit of Cuban legends — Grammy Award-winning icons such as Irakere, Buena Vista Social Club, Alexander Abreu, Habana De Primera, and Mexican-American sensation Poncho Sanchez.
Founded in 2022 by the incomparable Isbert (Vivio) Ramos Mediaceja, a pioneer of Cuban music and dance in New Zealand, Ke lo Ke brings together a brilliant ensemble of musicians. You may recognise them from their work in bands such as Havana Groove, Cameleon Afro-Latino, Matecito Latin Band, Calle Latina, Son de Cuba, C-26, Kevin Field Band, Auckland Jazz Orchestra, New Bop Quintet, and Goldsmith Baynes.
